Internships
The Office of the Historian offers internships for undergraduate students. The application period for Summer 2026 Internships is now closed. The office is looking for candidates with a background in history, political science, library science, and art history. Our goal is to foster interest in the fields of public and institutional history, archival science, and museum studies; and to provide a behind-the-scenes experience for visiting students.
Interns may assist with the following tasks, including:
- historical and biographical research
- oral history preparation and review
- educational content creation and outreach
- archival and object processing
- curatorial content creation
- other special projects as assigned
The intern must be highly motivated, collaborative, and possess excellent research, communication, and computer skills. The ideal candidate will have research experience; an interest in political history, archives, and visual materials; and good writing skills.
Availability
The Office is seeking an intern to work a minimum of 24 hours per week. The internship will primarily be onsite, with potential for some hybrid work. This internship is unpaid; however, interns may work with the intern coordinator to accommodate scheduling relating to academic or work requirements.
The Office is only able to accept applications from U.S. citizens.
Internships may be available for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. The selection process is highly competitive.
