Barrett and reelected to the Ninety-sixth Congress (November 2, 1976-October 2, 1980); per H. Res. 794, expelled from the U.S. House of Representatives on October 2, 1980, for bribery, conspiracy and Travel Act violations; convicted on August 30, 1980, of conspiracy, bribery, and travel in interstate commerce to carry on the unlawful act of bribery; sentenced to federal prison and was fined; unsuccessful candidate for 39th ward leader in Philadelphia, Pa., May 1988; convicted on October 18, 2022, of conspiracy, bribery, obstruction of justice, and falsification of voting records; sentenced to federal prison and was fined.
