Description

In this letter to the chairman of the Committee on House Administration, Representative Otis Pike voiced his wholehearted approval of the plan to bring electronic voting to the House of Representatives: “I have just two words to say about your new system, ‘Do it.’” Electronic voting, which cost about $1 million to develop and implement, was used for the first time in January 1973. It saved significant time for lawmakers by dramatically streamlining the voting process.
