Object Details

This postcard made the Franzoni Clock—a carved marble timepiece of Clio, the Muse of History riding a chariot through the heavens—the memorable image of Statuary Hall, a popular stop on any tour of the Capitol. White-bordered postcards such as this example were first produced during World War I to conserve ink.
