Poetry doesn’t often find its way into portrait unveilings. In the case of Government Operations Committee Chairman Jack Brooks, however, Speaker Jim Wright, who had known Brooks since they were college undergraduates, was inspired to compose the following paeon to his friend:“All hail our Chairman named Brooks,/ Scourge of wrongdoers and crooks./ With withering stare and cigar chomping glare,/ This guy is just as mean as he looks.“
