Object Details

Pat Schroeder used “She Wins. We Win.” as a campaign slogan for many of her 24 years in Congress. This button, from her 1972 campaign, evoked both her seriousness of purpose and the popularity of her antiwar, women’s rights message. Once in the House, she was asked how she could be mother and a Member simultaneously, to which she replied, “I have a brain and a uterus and I use both.”
