Dapper Virginian George Wise was one of several Members of Congress depicted in informal sketches published in the 1890s. Wise appears as he would have when strolling Washington in the summer with a walking stick and straw boater hat. At the time of this print, Wise chaired the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee.
