Congressman Edward Denison, a supporter of strict enforcement of Prohibition laws, was indicted for possession of alcohol when authorities found a suitcase bearing his address that was leaking liquor. Denison, who came to the House in 1915, did not win reelection in 1929 after the scandal broke.
