Object Details

In this photograph, an investigator for the House Un-American Activities Committee showed evidence to accused Soviet spy Duncan Lee during a hearing in the Cannon House Office Building's Caucus Room. The Committee, tasked with investigating subversive and un-American propaganda activities, focused on the threat of communist infiltration from the late 1940s into the 1960s. The Committee was abolished in 1975.
