Object Details

The West Front of the Capitol and the unfinished dome form the backdrop of this news illustration of Colonel Vosburgh’s funeral procession. The group approaches the railroad depot, which was located on what is now the National Mall. Views of the West Front are unusual during this period, as the East Front was the more finished and scenic side of the building.
