Ron Sherr’s portrait of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas was unveiled in 2006. The three-quarter length work blends the factual and the painterly, including a detailed view of the dais in the committee’s hearing room, depicted, though, in a glowing, diffuse light. The portrait also incorporates the warm orange palette of the grand, historic space.
