Peter Anthony DeFazio

Object Details

Oregon Representative Peter DeFazio’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee chair portrait includes elements referring to institutional history as well as DeFazio’s role on the committee. DeFazio stands in front of a desk made in 1908 for the Cannon House Office Building, a nod to the history and traditions of Congress. The book on the desk is a committee report that references Transportation and Infrastructure’s work on Boeing’s design, development, and certification of the 737 Max aircraft, after two deadly crashes in 2017. The image on the rear wall shows Oregon’s historic Isaac Lee Patterson Bridge, later listed to the National Registry of Historic Places, which DeFazio secured funding to repair.
