Object Details

Lathrop Brown of New York served a single term in Congress. Both before and after his House service, he spent his fortune and his time building enormous homes that were famous in their own right and often appeared in print. This postcard of his first estate, called Land of Clover, showed not only the massive house but also the extensive grounds on which he raised racehorses.
