Object Details

Trade cards—retail advertisements with a popular image on one side and info about a product on the other—were common sights in the late 1800s. Like this example from Clark's Spool Cotten, the images were often lithographs printed on stiff cardboard. Companies printed series of cards on a given topic (in this case, impressive public works in America) to encourage the public to collect an entire set.
