In 1954, a lucky fan clutched this program at the Congressional Baseball Teams’ Exhibition Game. Both Republicans and Democrats repaired to Florida for spring training, in preparation for the annual Congressional Baseball Game. Daytona Beach’s local community turned out for the exhibition game. The town’s mayor threw out the first ball, three local school bands played, and Mrs. America of 1954 was the “honorary umpire-in-chief.”
