Nebraska Congressman Edgar Howard started his career as a newspaperman. He travelled all over the state, picking up jobs as a printer, reporter, and editor, before entering politics in the 1890s. This button dates from Howard’s unsuccessful first run for Congress in 1900. He was eventually elected in 1922 and served for more than a decade, all while running the Weekly Telegram of Columbus, Nebraska.
