The military was part of the pre-game celebration at the 1952 Congressional Baseball Game. Sergeant Lee Fox gave Democrat Mendel Rivers and Republican William Ayres tips before play started. The GOP team was in greater need of the help that year. It had lost the four previous matches and was destined to lose this one, too, 6-3.
