Object Details

When Manuel Luján ran for Congress in 1968, he began what would be 20 years of House service. This campaign button, which dates from the 1970s, was created by printing a lithographic image directly on metal. “Litho” buttons required a large print run. In congressional races, they were most commonly used by Members with large districts. Luján, who first ran for an At-Large seat in New Mexico, covered a huge swath of the state during his campaigns.
