Object Details

Artist Mabel Pugh depicted her fellow North Carolinian, Agriculture Chairman Harold Cooley in a dynamic pose, his torso twisted slightly toward the viewer, with one elbow resting across the back of a chair and glasses in hand. Against a neutral background, the red chair and blue and white of the sitter’s clothing provide subtle patriotic allusions.
