BANDSTRA, Bert Andrew, a Representative from Iowa; born in Monroe County, Iowa, January 25, 1922; attended New Sharon High School; United States Navy, 1942-1945; graduated from Central College, Pella, Iowa, 1950; graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich., 1953; lawyer, private practice; Marion County attorney, 1955-1959; staff, United States Representative Neal Smith of Iowa, 1959-1964; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth Congress (January 3, 1965-January 3, 1967); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninetieth Congress in 1966 and the Ninety-first in 1968; died on October 23, 1995, in Pella, Iowa; interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Iowa.
