BALDWIN, John, a Representative from Connecticut; born in Mansfield, Conn., April 5, 1772; attended the common schools; was graduated from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in 1797; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1800 and commenced practice in Windham, Conn.; probate judge of Windham County 1818-1824; elected as an Adams to the Nineteenth and Twentieth Congresses (March 4, 1825-March 3, 1829); affiliated with the Whig Party after its formation; resumed the practice of law; died in Windham, Windham County, Conn., March 27, 1850; interment in Windham Cemetery.
