(now West Virginia), May 13, 1807; ordained in the Methodist Church in 1826; shoemaker; minister; newspaper owner; elected Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives to the Forty-fifth Congress until his resignation on November 14, 1877 (October 15, 1877–November 14, 1877); died on June 25, 1882, in Baltimore, Md.; interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Baltimore, Md.
