JACKSON, Uriah Stokes, a Sergeant at Arms from Indiana; born in Hancock County, Ind., on July 6, 1846; attorney; chairman, Indiana Democratic central committee; sheriff, Hancock County, Ind.; unsuccessful candidate for election for the U.S. House of Representatives for the Fifty-ninth Congress in 1904; elected Sergeant at Arms of the United States House of Representatives for the Sixty-second Congress until his death on June 22, 1912 (April 4, 1911–June 22, 1912); died on June 22, 1912, in Greenfield, Ind.; interment in Park Cemetery, Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana.
