DORSEY, Roderick, a Sergeant at Arms from Maryland; born in Md., on January 1, 1788; member of the Maryland state house of delegates, 1815–1818, and 1829–1830; unsuccessful candidate for election to the Twenty-third Congress in 1832; elected Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives for the Twenty-fourth Congress and for the succeeding two Congresses (December 15, 1835–June 8, 1841); postmaster, Frankville, Carroll County, Md., 1855; died on January 17, 1858, in Frederick County, Md.
