CLAXTON, Thomas, a Doorkeeper from Connecticut; birth date unknown; assistant Doorkeeper, United States House of Representatives, 1789–1795; elected Doorkeeper of the U.S. House of Representatives to the Fourth Congress and to the twelve succeeding Congresses (December 7, 1795–December 4, 1821); died on December 8, 1821, in Hartford, Conn.
