CHERFILUS-MCCORMICK, Sheila, a Representative from Florida; born in Brooklyn, King’s County, N.Y., January 25, 1979; graduated from Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory, Hollywood, Fla., 1997; B.A., Howard University, Washington, D.C., 2001; attended University of Maryland Global Campus, Adelphi, Md., 2005-2007; J.D., St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami Gardens, Fla., 2010; health care executive; unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the One Hundred Sixteenth Congress in 2018; unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the One Hundred Seventeenth Congress in 2020; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Seventeenth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative Alcee Lamar Hastings (January 11, 2022-present).
