WYDLER, John Waldemar, a Representative from New York; born in Brooklyn, N.Y., June 9, 1924; attended West School of Long Beach, Long Beach High School, and Brown University, Providence, R.I.; enlisted as a private in the United States Army Air Corps November 16, 1942, was promoted to staff sergeant in a chemical weapons company and assigned to the China-Burma-India Theater, and was discharged in November 1945; served as a lieutenant in the judge advocate's office, and in Air Force Reserve, 1945-1955; resumed studies at Brown University until 1947; LL.B., Harvard University Law School, 1950; was admitted to the bar in October 1950; served in the United States attorney's office, Eastern District of New York, 1953-1959; entered the private practice of law in Mineola, N.Y., in 1959; delegate, Republican National Convention, 1968; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-eighth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1963-January 3, 1981); was not a candidate for reelection in 1980 to the Ninety-seventh Congress; chairman, Long Island Development Agency; was a resident of Garden City, N.Y., until his death in Washington, D.C., on August 4, 1987; interment in Holy Rood Cemetery, Garden City, N.Y.
