TINKHAM, George Holden, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass., October 29, 1870; attended the public and private schools; was graduated from Harvard University in 1894; member of the Boston Common Council in 1897 and 1898; studied law at Harvard Law School; was admitted to the bar in 1899 and commenced practice in Boston; member of the board of aldermen 1900-1902; served in the State senate 1910-1912; served overseas during the First World War; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and to the thirteen succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1915-January 3, 1943); was not a candidate for renomination in 1942; continued the practice of law in Boston, Mass., until his retirement; died in Cramerton, N.C., August 28, 1956; interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, Mass.
