A letter from Christopher Yates to Henry Oothoudt and Jeremiah Van Rensselaer written on December 1, 1787. In the letter, Yates thanks them for the newspaper they sent, asks for the same in the future, and asks if they will send him some black notebooks if any are to be found in Albany. The second half deals with a Franklin stove he has received, asks how it should be set up, as it smokes as badly as his chimney did, and he has never seen one set up. He mentions that one of these men owned the stove previously, and that he would appreciate any account of how the stove acted while in his possession.

A letter from Alexander Macomb to Stephen Van Rensselaer written on June 14, 1799. In the letter, Macomb writes regarding the payment of a note due to Mrs. Macomb. Van Rensselaer sent Jeremiah Van Rensselaer to Macomb with partial payment. He informed Macomb that he was sending a sloop loaded with wheat out to be sold. The proceeds of this sale would go toward retiring the debt. Macomb acknowledges this information in this letter.
