RUST, Albert, a Representative from Arkansas; born in Fauquier County, Va., c. 1818; completed preparatory studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in El Dorado, Union County, Ark.; member of the State house of representatives 1842-1848 and 1852-1854; elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1857); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1856 to the Thirty-fifth Congress; elected to the Thirty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1861); brigadier general in the Confederate Army during the Civil War; resumed the practice of his profession; died near Little Rock, Ark., April 4, 1870; interment at Oakland-Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park, Little Rock, Ark.[ Top ]
