The files are from when Albert Quie was Governor of Minnesota. The personal files contain materials (primarily correspondence) relating to persons and organizations with which Albert Quie maintained personal contact, activities in which he was personally involved, or issues in which he was personally interested. Although they are similar to the Central correspondence subject files (and some of the correspondence in them should be recorded in the Control correspondence and tracking cards), the personal files were maintained separately. The files also contain letters of support dating from Albert Quie's campaign and election (1979-1980), general subject correspondence, issue files, state department files, "staff and significant others" correspondence (with Minnesota legislators, governors of other states, U.S. senators and congressmen, and the president, as well as with staff), daily summaries of mail and telephone calls; and personal account check registers. The files are from when Albert Quie was Governor of Minnesota. Included are materials relating to appointments, initiative and referendum, refugees, and Independent Republican party matters. Rob Stevenson seems to have helped Albert Quie conduct interviews of candidates for state agency positions and filed reports on them. There are several files of resumes and letters and other materials concerning persons who sought Albert Quie's assistance or support in pursuing presidential appointments. The files of the Upper Great Lakes Regional Commission are from when Albert Quie was Governor of Minnesota. The Commission was abolished in 1983.
