Hawkins of Florida, 1981-1985; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Third and to the eleven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1993-January 3, 2017); chair, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (One Hundred Twelfth Congress); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifteenth Congress in 2016.
