LaROCCO, Larry, a Representative from Idaho; born in Van Nuys, Los Angeles County, Calif., August 25, 1946; attended Stanford University Institute of Television and Radio, 1967, and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, 1968-1969; B.A., University of Portland, 1967; M.S., Boston University, 1969; captain, military intelligence, United States Army, 1969-1972; north Idaho field representative for United States Senator Frank Church, 1975-1981, Oregon primary coordinator for the Church presidential campaign in 1976; vice president of a brokerage firm, 1983-1990; unsuccessful candidate in 1982 for the Ninety-eighth Congress; nominee in 1986 for the Idaho State senate; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Second and One Hundred Third Congresses (January 3, 1991-January 3, 1995); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fourth Congress.

The papers of Larry LaRocco include correspondence, press releases, newsletters, reports, studies, subject files, clippings, photos, tape and video recordings, and other papers, from Larry LaRocco's service in Congress representing the First District of Idaho (North Idaho and the western side of the state); together with campaign and other political papers. Issues represented include wolf reintroduction, salmon recovery, national forest and timber policies, forest health, Coeur d'Alene basin cleanup, Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, and the Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm).
