Claiborne, judge of the United States District Court for Nevada; one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 1998 to conduct the impeachment proceedings against President William Clinton; chair, Committee on the Judiciary (One Hundred Fourth through One Hundred Sixth Congresses); chair, Committee on International Relations (One Hundred Seventh through One Hundred Ninth Congresses); not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Tenth Congress in 2006; died on November 29, 2007, in Chicago, Ill.
