BRYAN, Nathan, a Representative from North Carolina; born in Craven (now Jones) County, N.C., in 1748; member of the house of commons of North Carolina in 1787 and 1791-1794; elected as a Republican to the Fourth and Fifth Congresses and served from March 4, 1795, until his death in Philadelphia, Pa., June 4, 1798; interment in the Baptist burial ground on Second Street; reinterred at an unknown location when the burial ground was used as a building site; there is a cenotaph in his memory at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
