Following a successful career as an attorney in Kentucky, Representative Andrew May was elected to the House in 1930. In 1947, May was convicted of accepting cash in return for influencing the award of munitions contracts during World War II from his position of Chairman of the Military Affairs Committee. After his release from prison in 1950, he was reinstated as an attorney and practiced in Prestonburg, Kentucky, until his death in 1959.
