After a long session, the 75th Congress adjourned late in August 1937. Members quickly headed for their home districts or a vacation: Hawaiian Delegate Samuel King boarded the first ship back to Honolulu; Representative Richard Welch and his wife took a road trip west across Canada then south to their San Francisco district; and Representative Robert Hill cooled off in Asheville, N.C., before heading home to Oklahoma City. Refreshed, Congress returned to Washington in November for the start of the second session.
