The first House Office Building—now the Cannon House Office Building—boasts a grand rotunda. This inside view, a lithographic print made from a photograph taken by Ernest L. Crandall, shows how the graceful colonnade created a picturesque frame for the Capitol dome across the street, an ideal composition for a tourist picture postcard.
