The Capitol graced every month of the year in this 1926 wall calendar. Speaker Nicholas Longworth took the gavel for the first time the previous December and presided over a House that had increased its Republican majority amidst a booming economy. Congress passed a resolution authorizing the President to honor the November 11 anniversary of the World War I armistice, but it would not show up on calendars like this one until 1938, when Congress finally established it as a federal holiday.
