Collecting signed photographs of notable Americans was a popular pastime in mid-century America. Politicians were used to receiving such requests, and glossy prints similar to this one signed by Representative Lawrence Hays for collector George Ingham were readily at hand to distribute to constituents and avid hobbyists.
