In 1951, the House Chamber reopened, with a repaired roof and an updated look. The mid-20th century interpretation of early-19th century Federal style included a noiseless model of theater seating for the galleries. Blue and gold Greek-key patterned velvet upholstery was chosen from F. Schumacher, a well-established textile dealer in New York. The Senate gallery seats used the same pattern in red.
