Object Details
One of the most prolific painters in the House Collection, Irving Resnikoff’s signature is not found on a single portrait. He worked for the entrepeneur Leo Fox, who signed the paintings as his own. The 1971 unveiling of his portrait of Clarence Cannon took place alongside the unveiling of a portrait of fellow Appropriations Committee Chairman John Taber and was marked by pomp and ceremony in the Capitol’s Natioal Statuary Hall with President Richard M. Nixon and Fox in attendance.
