A pass to a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony is a coveted ticket. Ceremonies are often held in the Capitol Rotunda and accompanied by pomp and ceremony befitting the nation’s highest civilian honor. In this case, the ticket admitted the bearer to the presentation of a medal to Michael DeBakey, a pioneering surgeon whose work made possible open-heart surgery and a score of other cardiovascular surgical techniques.
