The Congressional Baseball Game was a long-standing tradition when Pennsylvania Congressman Bud Shuster donned the jersey of the Altoona Curve, a minor league team, in 2007. In the early 1900s, most Members wore shirts that proclaimed their party affiliation, but by the 1970s many sported uniforms from their districts. Baseball cards also appeared for the first time in the 1970s and included each player’s stats on the reverse.
