Object Details

After the Capitol was evacuated on September 11, 2001, the Clerk of the House located and preserved the flag that flew over the House wing that day. By custom, American flags are hoisted over the House and Senate wings of the Capitol on rooftop flagpoles several times a day; citizens often request from their Representatives flags flown over the Capitol on days of personal importance.
