One of five small, oval-framed prints of Speakers in the House Collection, the acquisition date of this object is unknown, but this print appears in stereoviews of the Capitol dating from the 1870s. The inscription states that master lithographer Francis D’Avignon made the print while working in New York. Linn Boyd’s 1911 Speaker portrait is based on this likeness.
