Object Details
William J. B. Dorn was named after Representative, orator, and perennial presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan. In his portrait, a framed image of Bryan looms behind Dorn, with muted tones that signal he is not the subject. Dorn himself is limned with brighter colors and sharper features to distinguish him from Bryan. Artist Robert Williams painted five portraits for the House, of which this is his earliest effort.
