Robert Bruce Williams painted this portrait of Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Ray Roberts in a style that is easily recognizable by the free brushwork and background. In this work, Williams has confined the most colorful part of his abstract work to within the frame on the wall behind Roberts, reinforcing the angular sense of the color blocks by the splash of light across the frame and wall.
