Clement Vallandigham was photographed by E. and H. T. Anthony & Company of New York, which became the largest photography and photographic supply company in the United States. Mathew Brady, who began his career with this studio and went on to achieve fame as a Civil War photographer, eventually opening two photography studios of his own, is credited with this image.
