This staged publicity photo shows Congressman Runt Bishop taking a shove to the head from fellow Member A. S. Herlong before the 1954 Congressional Baseball Game. Bishop and Herlong managed the Republican and Democratic teams respectively. The game ended in a 2–1 victory for the Democrats and capped a seven-year winning streak. First played in 1909, the game became a beloved annual tradition that benefited charitable organizations through ticket sales and concession revenue.
